MMR - what on earth to do?
My baby is due for his MMR jab in December so I have a few months to research this and to think about it, but frankly, I am in a quadry as what to do for the best. Do I go for the triple jab, have him vaccinated but with separate jabs or do I forgoe the MMR altogether.....?
Anyone out there with any good advice? Anyone found the jab safe/unsafe?
I am really worried. I would hate for my son to have the jab only to discover it has altered him for life but then again, I don´t want to expose him to potentially fatal diseases. What to do..? There are so many differing opinions out there!

Hi, after lots of thought I had my son innoculated with the MMR all in one jab in Feb. No side effects. My understanding is that the links with autism have been discredited and that immunity is preferable. Hope you come to a position you are happy with soon.

Hi Jonahsmummy,
If you do a search of this site for MMR, you will find numerous posts for & against the vaccine. Make sure you do your research on both sides of the vaccination debate to be able to make an informed decision.
I decided not to vaccinate my children at all and, for me, this was the right thing to do.

Re: MMR - what on earth to do?
No I have not vaccinated at all. I have not done this because I don't believe that nothing will happen to my children as, my aunt died of tetanus and my cousin is crippled through Polio. Before anybody starts lambasting me and telling me that I am an irresponsible parent, I researched this subject long & hard and instead I support their immune systems with good nutrition and with as few chemicals as possible internally & externally (including using non SLS toiletries & fluoride free toothpaste) I treat them homeopathically & herbally and make sure that they are well cared for when they are ill. I believe that children NEED to experience these childhood disease to prepare & develop their immune systems, most of the other vaccinated for diseases are avoidable due to improved sanitation, hygiene & following a good diet.
Both my boys health is very good and most of the illnesses that they have had have run their course very quickly and with few problems. My eldest for example had mumps for 3 days with no symptoms apart from the swollen glands.
As an aside to this, my youngest was diagnosed with Favismo (mediterranean anaemia, which is a hereditary condition) when he was 3 and needed to be hospitalised and have a blood transfusion. The doctors at the hospital have told me that had I not followed a holistic route he could have had a crises at a much younger age and possibly not have survived, as many pharmaceutical products could have provoked a reaction.
These are just my opinions and I would urge anyone to do their own research and make their own informed decision.

Re: MMR - what on earth to do?
Hi guys, thanks for your replies and all of your advice. Just to update, after doing some research and mulling it over and over again, I decided to have my little boy vaccinated with the MMR jab. I was worried and anxious, especially in those few minutes before entering the doctor´s office. However, I decided that the vaccination was preferable to him perhaps coming down with one of the diseases and the possible consequences of that. Anyway, I think he took it much better than I did and hardly made any fuss whatsoever. That night he was a tiny bit teary but certainly not enough to be concerned about, and the next morning he was as bright as a button and back to normal. In the end, in my circumstances, I had nothing to worry about. I think it is a personal choice, as long as you make an informed decision. Thanks again!

Thanks for keeping us up to date with your decision and glad you are happy with your choice. All vaccinations I think are frightening for us mothers and the MMR scam has devastated a lot of decision making - we should see an end result to the Doctors trial soon!

Please correct me if i'm wrong, as it will make me have another think, but i was under the impression that all children had to have the standard vaccinations here if they're to enter a nursery or pre-school - or indeed school - so there isn't a great deal of choice?

State run schools (or nurseries) do not have the right to demand that you vaccinate your children, or even see their vaccination records. They can ask for a certificate of good health from your doctor. These are EU laws, and forcing you to vaccinate your children contravenes your right to choose. Private schools very often stipulate that vaccinations are mandatory although, I suspect that there are exemptions from those for religious, medical or philosophical reasons.

Have the vaccination. It is the best option both your your child and society.
There is no evidence whatsoever about links between autsim and MMR. This has all been dicredited.
Interstingly, the doctor who claimed the link was actually set to benefit financially from people having separate jabs - funny that!
